Fundraiser Barbecue and Auction

Dear Friends:

Last November the people of Baileyton and especially the congregation of Baileyton United Methodist Church suffered a devastating loss as flames completely destroyed the 102 year old church building located in the heart of the community. Almost immediately the congregation began raising funds and planning to rebuild a structure that is reminiscent of the historical building but that also will better serve both the church members and the citizens of Baileyton.

A group of approximately thirty churches is working together in an exciting fundraising event to help Baileyton UMC rebuild. On August 23, 2008, at Baileyton Elementary School, we hope to feed 5,000 people a barbecue meal, have a gospel singing and conduct an auction in order to raise money. All money raised will be given to the Baileyton United Methodist Church rebuilding fund.

In order to make the auction a success, we will try to have about 250 items to offer for bidding at the auction. Many churches, groups and individuals have already given items. However, to meet our goal of 250 items, we are asking many firms and businesses in our area to assist us. You can be an important part of this effort by providing an item, a gift certificate or a discount towards a purchase for the auction. We will ensure that your business is recognized for your donation and ask that you include a brochure or business card for this purpose.
